After a year in service, Frens of Akalabeth has wiped and relaunched with the latest UO Odyssey fork: Memento, which is a fork of Adventurers of Akalabeth, which is a fork of Ruins & Riches. This fork brings a bit more streamlined, but also more challenging experience as the power creep in the other forks got out of hand. Notably resists are harder to come by, items have less magical attributes, and skill bonuses from items now obey the 100 skill cap unless you use a powerscroll. Other notable changes include the addition of OmniAI which makes for more exciting combat, gathering and crafting skills don't count toward the total skill cap (with 1 exception on this server), and a de-emphasis on macroing by adding more natural skill progression and bulk crafting/continuous harvesting system with rich deposits that randomly spawn in the world. The following are my changes for this server:
>Alchemy DOES count toward the total skill cap
>Gathering/crafting skills that gave a weapon damage bonus no longer give that bonus
>Tracking now gives a percentage weapon and spell damage bonus against the tracked mob equal to 25% of your Tracking skill.
>Town Guards don't instagib and are killable, but they're still really tough.
>All monster races start as evil.
>Lower Reagent Cost is capped at 80%.
>Trail Map system reworked. Can now be used at 50 Tracking/Cartography or 80 Camping with a success chance that starts at 50% and scales to 100% at 100 for the former and 125 for the latter. Can't use them to travel to a different land (ie Sosaria to Lodoria), but Cartographers can craft them to (almost) any outdoor location by going there and crafting one.
