I'm weighing the pros and cons vs. just continuing to live at my parents' house. I'm also trying to decide where I should go, if I should.

I was thinking:
>A few months in Japan (Tokyo)
>A few months in Korea (Seoul)
>A few months in Taiwan?
>a week trip or so using pto, maybe in China
Outside of that, I'm not sure. Maybe some time in Bali just to sit by the beach. I could do Mexico or South America, or somewhere in Europe, but I dunno.

Here are my issues:
>Money
I will probably spend $3k a month minimum, versus like $1k in my parents' basement. That's a difference of $24k over a year. Not including flights, or a new laptop, or whatever it is that I'll need to do this. Is that really worth it? On the other hand, it's hard to get an experience like this.
>Time
Of course, I will have to work the entire time, and it will be in EST or roughly around those hours. That means my whole schedule will be off compared to local time. And of course I will be working, so I'm not sure how enjoyable it will actually be.
>Work
This is one of those "ask for forgiveness, not permission" type deals. I will have to put in some work to keep things discreet. That means a server running at home to VPN into, a neutral background for meetings, etc. I probably wouldn't get fired but there's definitely a risk.


If anons have done something similar, I'd appreciate some advice. Was it worth it? Is 1 year too long? Should I pick fewer destinations?
