Once you know the Stingtail was an idea pawned off the board game because GSG were (and still are) so desperately out of ideas they had to take them from ancillary media, you begin to understand why they feel so terrible in the video game. They're an enemy that's only designed to work in a turn-based setting.

In the board game you have to sacrifice your actions to run away from a Stingtail grab, which is annoying but not insurmountable, especially since you have time to plan your actions. In the video game, you get grabbed by a Stingtail and then you just instantly die to the cohort of Slashers following it. If you get grabbed, there's nothing you can do about it unless you're Scout or you have the Dash perk. You can't even reliably stun Stingtails because the fucking things are clad head-to-toe in heavy armour. It's like they deliberately made the video game Stingtail to be as annoying and un-interactive as possible.

What's really funny is that the board game Stingtail actually looks significantly better, too. The video game Stingtail looks nothing like a Glyphid, it doesn't even have a visible mouth.
