Not really man. The most colonized parts of Africa are today the best parts, the least colonized parts of Africa are pretty much universally the worst. The regression of South Africa into another generic corrupt African state is the proof in the pudding.
I do think the whole dependency theory of western countries secretly conspiring to lock up the terms of trade to keep African countries poor, should be regarded as an insane baseless conspiracy theory without evidence. It's a product of envious thinking, no different to an Igbo farmer thinking his neighbor is casting magical spells to make it so he grows more yams.

If you read into it you'll find that even in the 19th century, British elites were starting to get this woke attitude in regards to race. Lord Byron used to ride past starving crippled factory workers in his carriage as he went simping for freeing the african slaves. Chamberlain tried forcing Indians on the Australians.
There was a mainstream belief in white supremacy, of course, but there's always been a bit of this liberal egalitarian mentality at times.
