Generally the old lore/feel is more soulful and comfy

Pokemon works best when it's like like DBZ capsule corp bullshit, teleportation and Pokeballs being crazy works of science-magic exist but everyone has big awkward chunky plastic Pokegears or Pokedexs they carry around

Making everything a smartphone was super soulless and gay Pokemon had some indentity and they threw it away, making everyones smartphones also somehow be possessed by a Rotom is just retarded

That said I do like the mild name retconning of say America to be Unova and the removal of pointless real life animals since Pokemon should be more of a fantasy alternate-Earth imo
