Games are supposed to be fun, but Mario Kart World's online is literally anti-fun. It'd be one thing if it had a skill ceiling like DS, Wii and vanilla MK8, and It'd be another thing if it facilitated actual tournaments well like MK8D. But in its current state it is deliberately tuned to punish someone for trying to have fun that it makes Mario Party look fair in comparison. The playing field is so big and the item spam is so frequent that you can't even have a real "race" and are instead engaging in a one-way car combat game. So what is the point? Nintendo could have added all sorts of additional modes to allow the game to be fun, but they chose not to. They literally made people pay $500 to not have a good time. Unless you're a time trial autist (based) you will just end up hating Mario Kart World because its gameplay is inherent against the company's own design philosophy.
