One week in Poland is complete!
>Total: 1163 PLN or $46 USD per day
This compares to $41 per day for my first week in Taiwan.
>Lodging: 685 PLN or $31.70 per night
I've been happy with the quality of the budget rooms here. Rooms are well-furnished, clean and comfortable. 3 out of 5 properties had a private bath, 3 out of 5 had reception staff, 4 out of 5 had kitchen facilities.
>Food: 322.5 PLN or $12.79 per day
Food was a mix. Carrefour is a First World-tier grocery store by any measure, and farmer's stalls sell fresh produce everywhere. You can eat very well if you settle in and bring home a tote of groceries, but staying on the move means stuffing your face with a giant kebab or some sugary baked goods - more expensive and less nutritious than a proper cooked meal.
>Transport: 140 PLN or $39 for 491 km covered on eight bus & train trips...$0.08 USD per km
Three times pricier per km than Southeast Asia. The TLK trains have windows that open so you can feel the breeze and hear the clackety clack from your six-seat compartment. The IC trains are much faster and quieter.

The girls here are fully aware of their own beauty, and are coolly judgmental of the guys. If you fall short in her estimation, you'll get frozen out. A lot of the dating strategies espoused on /trv/ involve buttering up insecure slum girls and making them believe that being dumb and brown and monkey-faced is beautiful to you. That strategy will flop here.
