My pagan friends forgive my hubris, but with Buddhism as my main religion I view the gods as just being very powerful sentient beings — devas or pretas, most of them. They live and die just like us, and you can do business with them just like us.

This is much less clear from my point of view. They could be different planets, they could be overlayed across our reality. Maybe it's both or neither. It's interesting that alien abduction experiences have so much in common with mystical experiences, that's for sure
