I agree, even early Fallout 4 mods had the ability to swap out ammo types, like the Mk41 Gyrojet Machinegun. I think it just used a script to change out one of the mods on the gun, which just overrides the ammo type. as for yellow cake, it's powered uranium, and they use depleted uranium to make armor-piercing ammo. so it makes some sense in a round-about way. just don't drop that shit.
