Here's how this plays out
>Being incredibly generous, Columbo is able to figure out Light is a suspect
>Columbo does his usual bit, acting dumb. Thanks him and walks away
>Light thinks he's a bumbling moron but decides to write the name on the badge he flashed just in case he talks to a smarter detective
>Finds out the name doesn't work when he sees him again
>Plays it cool, lets Columbo play dumb and plays dumb himself so Columbo doesn't suspect a thing
>Columbo leaves again
>Light calls Misa, tells her this detective used a fake name
>Tells her to follow him and use her eyes to kill him
>5 minutes later Columbo is dead
The reality is Columbo would have no way of even getting the step one like L did. He would just keep scratching his head in LA wondering how these criminals keep dropping dead. I guess you could conclude this as a tie since the two would never even interact.
