She was orphaned at 14 so old enough to be aware of what she lost. I think it was a good detail to have cause it better explains why she lost her mind so badly. Given that she already lost her first father when she was old enough to know him spending 14 years of her life with him. to then lose her new father that she knew for 8 years of her life after she finally started to feel comfortable and secure. That is why she lost her mind cause her whole life was nothing but recovering from loss and losing the person she loved most twice. But now she has a new person in her life that she loves the most and wont ever let anything bad happen to him. Even if she wont ever admit it
