Planning on taking my dog this summer about 90-100 miles through the Siskiyous. He is pretty obsessed with birds and rodents but has pretty good recall despite it. I would imagine the only thing you need to bring would be the dog food and some kind of water bowl. He often drinks from streams on his own anyway. I can't really imagine needing anythi g extra besides maybe a lead to tie the dog off while sleeping
