I still use my now 20-year-old alarm clock for precisely this scenario. I have it set as a backup for my phone alarm, with some buffer to let me snooze the phone a few times.

Pic related, it has never failed me. The original nightlight bulb still works too, I guess it's from before the planned obsolescence era.
