FiM has more protentional than Homestuck. Not Tohou and Sonic though since those are franchises are continuing with always new sonic games and movies and I think Tohou still makes new games I guess I don't know.
If this were an MLP fandom then it'd go on and grow and so on. But it's an FiM only thing; there is technically, always has been an adult fanbase for MLP but it's hardly even relevant. It's just never happening in my opinion, MLP will never be good again.
But FiM has a huge open fantasy world with many characters. Even if there's only 2 and a half season of well established "content", that's why it was able to be so big in the first place and will continue to be, I suspect for another few decades at most before almost no one even knows what a "brony" is.
