The fandom is dead in terms of the past to the present. MLP was the biggest thing on the internet, the influence it has is not even 5% of what it was. Therefore even if there's a ton of "new people" it's still dead in terms of what it was. It's also dead in terms of the show went sour.

But MLP is pretty big still, at least the videos people upload get so many views, personally though I never see pony profile pictures of ponies anywhere online anymore.

I think Hasbro does indeed care about Bronies ruining their My Little Pony brand. We have hovered consistently between 2.5 and 3.K per day for a few years now.

This makes us at a consistent Top 30th board on the site (we're currently 27th, but we have a small boost with the movie, we generally hover between his and lit), we were not even hit that much by the hack like some other boards, especially /vt/, was.
We're fine, we're not hyperactive, but we still have a very dedicated fanbase, we're far from the slowest board (go look at some of the /valkans/ and compared to some of the dump picture boards far from the biggest draw on resources. If anything, the april's fool showed how relevant we can still be when we dedicate ourselves.

They refused to make high quality plushies of the characters in the same vein, leaving random internet nobodies to harvest the profit off the show. They were seven years tardy on making a mainline movie or any spinoff material really, when their fanbase would have gladly slurped up everything. They have struck gold, they had the goose laying golden eggs on their hands and they fucked it up. They failed at capitalism 101, having products to sell. Why? Because they were stupid. If this were an MLP fandom then it'd go on and grow and so on. But it's an FiM only thing; there is technically, always has been an adult fanbase for MLP but it's hardly even relevant. It's just never happening in my opinion, MLP will never be good again.
