Yeah they ramped up the difficulty majorly in Battle March expansion.

That said, that mission you need to split your army, one holding west, one holding east. This is after you capture all the towers. Last 10 mins, withdraw towards the middle and you should be ok.

I warn you though later, in the duel with the High Elf mage, specialise Lileath a bit in duelling and be sure to give her potions. Remember banging my head over it after many failed attempts.
