These aren't Elden Ring daggers. They're nightreign daggers.
If you're using that relic they do good dps
Black knife does more damage per stamina spent over it's string (factoring in restage relic) than a buffed up Sword of Night and Flame.

On Wing of Astel, you don't even need to factor restage. They flat out does less dps period. It's slower, has substantially more animation commitment, and uses more stamina per swing.

If you're R1ing with those weapons you're doing so at a substantial DPS loss.
There's only a handful of enemies where daggers reach is an actual problem; Ancestral Spirit, Demi-Human Queen (lmao), Erdtree avatar (from the front), and 3dog (from the front). Of those, only Ancestral spirit isn't instantly solved by two-handing your dagger and/OR dropping lock and looking slightly up.

People are either vastly overestimate the damage their stars of ruin is doing or vastly underestimate the damage dagger with it's relics are doing.

Unless that shit is a twinblade or starcourge greatswords no R1 in your arsenal is outdpsing your dagger solo. Those better weapons are there for their weapon arts and the 4 spells that do more damage with setup.
And if you're in a group and the other people are even halfway decent, no amount of damage you can do solo will surpass the damage you can contribute by restaging on ender.
Unless you invest heavily into a single magic school via relics. In which case yeah go right ahead and cast to your hearts content.
