I always found the Great Shift bothersome. The whole "95% of the world was swapped all at once" breaks my brain a little and takes me out of the story. I prefer the inverse, where it's a small but sizable minority of the global population that is swapped. Also, mass swappings where an entire city, town, or neighborhood is swapped are fine. Exchange Island is in a similar boat as the Great Shift, but it's annoying from a logistics angle.
The similar concept of the FOSE is fine to me because there's not going to be that many people orgasming at the exact same time, so there's not going to be much societal upheaval. It is somewhat tragic to be the victim of the FOSE, like imagine you're some girl and you find yourself in the body of some random guy cranking his shit to your Insta. There are also the extra dark ones where a pedo and a kid swap. There was one FOSE cap I read where the MC and the other swap victim are in-laws, and because they have no idea that the FOSE is a thing, they think they're the only ones who swapped. The pair finds out about the FOSE, but way after it'd be appropriate to tell, so they are forced to still pretend to be each other like they had been.
Now, if someone were to make a diet post-apocalypse setting where the apocalypse was the Great Shift, then that would be interesting. It could be set a few years after, and people are still struggling to get food, clean water, power, and find members of their family.
