I don't see the contradiction between what i stated and this assessment, because that ending is not fulfillment at all. If you feel miserable, and KNOW that this is not your ideal, then where is the "nonsense"? Andrew hurt Ashley, didn't make love properly, throw his life away, put up with existing instead of living, none of them grew, none of them accepted who they were; in shorter words, it was not ideal. That's like showing me the "Kings End" or "Full Timer" JiaC endings and telling me "See? See? I told you, missery is A FACT". He has everything he wants but none of it is right? Then he doesn't have it, because that's not it. Is as simple as that, but alas, we see what we want to see, until we have enough and decide to see the truth, and go for something greater.
