>How fucked are they in the midterms?
The GOP essentially amounts to Trump now, so let's look at his performances :
>alienated the "economy bros" by mishandling the tarrifs
>destroyed his populist fans' expectations who just wanted to see the situation improve with the BBB
>alienated the isolationnists base who didn't want intervention in the middle east
>alienated the nazis & far right by bowing to Israel
>alienated himself from the anti-establishment base with the Epstein situation
>proved to the libertarians that a reduced government isn't possible/isn't necessarilly good with the failure of DOGE & the natural disasters (could've been detected but no funds lol)
>shattered the strong man rethoric by alienating the US on the global scene and being unable to have any substantial "deals" (no, vietnam doesn't count as "substantial" to the public)
The GOP, unless something major happens, has no chance. Realistically, the dems will win both chambers and prevent any bills. Trump will get enraged and might actually prove himself to be an authoritarian president but that won't amount to anything good for 2028. Ironically enough, Trump has done more damage to the populist alt-right rethoric than any leftist could ever dream of by showcasing himself that this model doesn't work, at least with incompetent buffoons -- something that the average joe isn't capable of taking notice. The world will very likely resume the *status quo* in 5-10 years, that is, a very slow and gradual shift towards a social democracy with more or less cultural conservatism/progressivism. As always F.Fukuyama stays winning.
