>>510569117>Thats not what the left wants. Thats what the right tells its base the left wants to discredit the left.Lel, no true scotsman. Let's not pretend like old-school socialist leftists are still the norm, and that there isn't an enormous overlap between those types and the people who fervently support LGBTQ, white guilt/colonizers paying reparations, pro refugee/illegal/immigrant "no human is illegal, I don't see any borders do you?" nonsense, and all the other stupid bullshit. This is like if a modern right winger insisted "actually, we're all just libertarians! We just care about small government, less regulations, the free market, and low taxes, honest!"
The reason why the party you want doesn't exist is because the American left has pushed itself into a catch-22. Even without all the "culture war nonsense", people already aren't comfortable with their tax dollars and economic opportunities being handed to foreigners (and, more broadly, minorities who live in perpetual poverty and violence). Put another way, most Americans probably want free healthcare and better public transportation and all that cozy stuff deep down, but *white* Americans are aware that this means they're going to be paying into a system that disproportionately benefits (and is abused by) minorities who are socially irresponsible.
Naturally, you can't say this quiet part out loud, so the reflexive position they're left with is to be against *all* social programs. So, the left is stuck in this cycle of maintaining support by digging themselves deeper (by promising more gibs to minorities and importing more and more of them). The only way a "true" leftist platform in the US would enjoy broad success is if it accounted for that and had a staunchly anti-immigrant platform, which is never going to happen, due to the aforementioned overlap I described. In other words, you'd need some kind of "national socialist" party ;^)
