Actually, Zomboid can't really be easily modded. It's a closed source game. The advise they give to make mods is to look up other mods and see how their files work.
In some other games you can straight up open the game project on a game engine, or you have access to the exact same engine, and you can just remake chunks of the game and slap into it in a few buttons.
So no, don't expect Zomboid to be this do-all type of game in the future. Mods will revolve around changing little things within the game as usual.
