Yeah, some of that might be just coming from your model. A lot of models associate detailed lighting on skin with their positive quality tags, so anybody using the recommended prompt structure gets that shiny-skin "AI look".

You don't have to go out and learn how to paint, but understanding real art and artist techniques is how you can see and think like an artist. It'll definitely help you see things like inconsistent lighting or perspective, expose you to more styles to leverage, etc.
Look at other anon's metadata/catboxes, too - see what kinds of things they're using to get gens you like. Look at what people are using to get things you don't like. Explore, y'know?
