I think it's generally accepted that Batman has already been operating for a while by the time Superman becomes a big figure and kickstarts the modern age of superheroes. so you have Batman fighting street crime for a few years, he's good at it, he's used to it, then he gets a call from this new Superman fella because there's an alien invasion coming and they need all hands on deck, and they know Batman has experience. and it's way above his paygrade but Batman's gotta pitch in because hey, you don't say no to saving the world. next thing you know he's on the Justice League doing this sorta shit every month.
