That's what made me expect that her bond stories would be romantic but they're not at all. She's purely friendship oriented from start to finish, and if anything is pretty standoffish for most of it because of her guilt.

I was a bit let down, because the scene in the memories of them deciding to stay engaged seemed to imply romantic feelings, but the bond stories didn't follow up on that, or equal it at all.
