I will tell you about scotland now. this was the trip which completely put me off ever camping with him again.
my scottish mate had found a beautiful spot, a sandy beach on a river, totally idylic. spend a week preparing for this with turk, fully intending to just spend a week relaxing by the river, maybe do a little hike here and there, but a week of stress will be ok, right? because i will get to relax at the end of it, right??
turk insists on making erbswurst for the trip, he has no idea how to do this and we are often up late after work, trying to make his stupid fucking pea-sausage, even driving accross town to find dried peas (they taste like shit) eventually it falls on me to make this stupid thing because he is failing, so i spend days drying out what he has made (which was not erbswurst and was more like bacon mixed with hard dried-pea chunks, it will go off if not dried because it is hot) and I make a pea-bacon jerky thing, it takes days and hours and hours of drying every night ... he doesn't like it and doesn't eat it on the trip.
I make some flapjack in like 20 minutes and he loves it and it basically fuels us for the whole trip ...
so we get to the spot and i have massively over-packed and am dying, but i think this is fine, because we will be able to relax for a week by the river.
we get there, it is beautiful, i pitch, then one of my mates who is only staying one night wants to go on a hike so i go with him, despite being exhausted, really looking forward to just crashing out and sleeping afterwards. but on my way back to the spot in the evening turk calls us and tells us he wants to move camping spot, because he can see a small power pylon on a road from the river side ... i nearly fucking murder him.
he assures us he has an EVEN BETTER spot, just a short hike away!
tl;dr it was not better and we got kicked out of it and had to hike many more miles out of the entire valley with tons of gear.that's not even everything.
