Nta, but I’ve honestly seen it for other games as well. LADS is just huge so it’s easier to see, but I think it actually exposes what some might not have noticed otherwise unfortunately. I follow indie stuff a lot and it’s not to rare to see someone asking if they can play as a boy whenever something is announced despite it clearly being otome. Always a westerner though, which isn’t surprising considering the refusal to accept the proper definition of otome in the largest VN communities over here.
I think it’s a combination of that, and also possibly the recent popular twatter sentiments that fujos fund everything so every IP should kneel to them so schizo fujos feel more emboldened to just be annoying in lots of spaces for other groups. I don’t remember when but there was something someone posted here that was related to LADS and that exact thing. A random fujo was complaining about LADS and citing that they fund everything even though otome has clearly existed without them.
