After months of strife, Mexico too has fallen to civil war, with eight factions competing with one another for rule of North America's third largest economy.

First, the United Mexican States, led by Andres Obrador. This is the internationally-backed Mexican government, and they are based out of Mexico City.

Second, La Resistencia, led by Servando Martinez. Martinez is a Mexican drug lord and former leader of the Knights Templar Cartel, a criminal organization based in the state of Michoacan. In June 2019, he was sentenced to 55 years incarceration, but with the fall of Mexico and outbreak of inmates, he's back.

Third, Zapatista Army of National Liberation, led by Subcomandante Marcos. Zapatista is a far-left political and militant group that, pre-war, controlled a substantial amount of territory in Chiapas, the southernmost state of Mexico. It has been nominally at war with the Mexican state since 1994.

Fourth, Cartel del Golfo, led by Luis Blanco. The Gulf Cartel is a criminal syndicate, drug trafficking organization, and perhaps one of the oldest organized crime groups in Mexico. Their network is international, and is believed to have dealings with crime groups in Europe, West Africa, Asia, Central America, South America, and the United States.[8][9] Besides drug trafficking, the Gulf Cartel operates through protection rackets, assassinations, extortions, kidnappings, and other criminal activities.

Fifth, Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generacio, led by Nemesio Cervantes. The cartel has been characterized by extreme violence and public relations campaigns. Though the CJNG is known for diversifying into various criminal rackets, drug trafficking (primarily cocaine and methamphetamine) remains its most profitable activity. The cartel has been noted for cannibalizing some victims during the training of new sicarios or members, as well as using drones and rocket-propelled grenades to attack enemies.
