thats not a vagina
THIS is a vagina
(that thing above is an open snake mouth... to uhm... practice fleshy... you know... interiors...)
>you learn painting this way too?
yes and no. i am not really thinking of it as "painting" but sketching with focus on the 3d forms... and adding shading and reflections gives a lot of insight into the 3d form. so it is a stunted painting practice only "by accident"
>Is it useful to limit yourself to just 3 minutes for a painting
like i said my goal is to understand and learn forms (=anatomy) in the hopes of simplifying them in an appealing style when drawing... and the short time limit forces me to prioritize while drawing. unless the time limit is absurdly short, the speed and urgency is what actually helps with understanding!

you are putting a lot of thought into your path. i still maintain you are on the right track and can afford to be less frustrated at yourself <3
as long as you keep drawing, you are all but guaranteed to progress in the direction that you are describing
>I managed to mess up the wine bottle exercise in Drawing for the Absolute and Utter Beginner, the sides of the bottle weren't straight even when I lined them up against the edge of the page
lmao. spoiler: this is one of the universal, cruel, running gags that all artists face... this will happen to you (more rarely, but still) even ten years from now :^)
similarly, if and when you do digital art, "oh fuck i painted on the sketch layer"...
