The 'Lead Writer' at Insomniac is more like an editor in chief, they overview multiple projects but aren't actually writing them, and at the time is was Jon Paquette. The people actually writing the story are the 'Senior Writers', and for the vast majority of Rift Apart that was Lauren Mee and Sam Maggs. So yeah she wasn't technically the lead writer, but she was the one (of two) who was writing the story.
