They did it right. Not outright copying, but using derivatives of a MELODY and altering it enough to be unique, then changing other elements like instruments, tempo, beat and adding layers to fit the theme of what they were making (sonic in this case, streets of rage and Shinobi in another case I've seen videos like that on). Also it could just be a huge coincidence. Lol
Also helps that 99% of people can't tell when something sounds alike. I really believe most people are just code in a program. Like their genetic code is some generic copy and paste and a handful of uniques exist.
