He was just a really powerful notorious monster on a long respawn timer who dropped some nice things so linkshells were always fighting to claim him. Getting woken up at 3am by your LS leader to get your ass to Dragon's Aery was just very memorable for a lot of XI players so they put him in. Personally I don't care for his inclusion, they have such limited space and they used up a slot for an HNM.
