idk why they made that fight so over the top in the books, because personally, I think this final showdown is at its very core, a confrontation between an estranged son and his distant authoritarian father; a turning point where both of them realize how far they fucked up by not being more close or solving their issues earlier
and you can bet that kind of shit would resonate way more with the audience at an emotional level because of how common that problem is
just something to engage viewers more with an otherwise alien conflict to them
