>WD easystore Desktop HDD that I've been using as a backup drive for almost a year (as in luckily I have the original copy of most of its contents somewhere else) stopped working
>Won't even mount, as in both Windows and Linux file explorers show them but won't let me go into them, as the disk makes short, rhythmic little spin noises
>Basically the exact same problem everyone's having in the reviews here https://www.westerndigital.com/products/portable-drives/wd-easystore-desktop-usb-3-0-hdd
>ntfsfix doesn't work, claims it's read-only
>chkdsk on Windows and sudo fsck on Linux stall, just like the GUI file explorers
What do? I'm considering calling to see if my warranty will get me anywhere, and then trying to shuck it if it doesn't.
