A larger figure is going to use more molds than a smaller figure. Nevermind that producing a larger mold also takes more time, thus costs more too.

This is why 1:18 figures cost 50% less than 1:12, or at least, used to. It's hard to saw now, since prices have been fluctuating like crazy.

The cost of steel and plastic is basically negligible. It's the processes that cost money.
