I can't say it's an improvement, but I rather use Eevee for the extra draw. Leafeon is good if you start with Eevee, and as a backline you can use Sylveon for even more cards. Also, Leafeon's ability for the extra energy and the low energy cost attacks makes switching Pokemons in and out pretty easy
