It's changed over time. The earliest reference to it being an S-Type was actually the theatrical program for the first compilation movie, though that says that it's just Char's personal suit. MSV expanded that to the S-Type being a limited production model of around 100 units (although that did also say it was 30% faster than normal, not 3x faster), while also including other commander variants like Garma's FS-Type, and even Dozle's just being a customised version of the regular F-Type. Nowadays, there's a tendency to just default to 'if it has a horn, it's an S-Type until stated otherwise'
