-=READ THE GUIDES=-
Welcome to the Gunpla/Plamo General!
For those new, please read our guides. We have many resources available to help you in many different aspects of the hobby. They're here for you!
For the unclear, "plamo" is short for "plastic model". "Gunpla" is thus short for "Gundam plastic model". Many different kinds of models are built here, ranging from mecha to planes, cars, musume, you name it! If you're new, you're gonna screw up. Don't worry! If you're seasoned, don't make the newbies worry!
And don't forget to report shitposting and spam. The mods don't browse /m/ too often, so it's up to YOU to help keep our general clean and civil!
>Why won't anyone answer my question?Be more specific, and try to provide clear images if you can.
>Why are my pictures sideways?4chan strips EXIF data when images are uploaded, including the orientation tag if it's from your phone. To fix it save out your images separately, or use an app that will rotate and save the images for you.

-=ARTILLERY GROUPBUILD=-
Build a mecha or vehicle that uses long-range heavy-weapons such as Cannons, Missiles/Rockets, Railguns, or any other type of siege weaponry. Some clarifying rules
>The weapon can either be placed anywhere on the build (Shoulder-mounted, under-slung, etc), or in a separate side-build (Such as an artillery system utilized by a larger mech).
>Side-builds can include things like howitzers, self-propelled artillery, missile platforms, and the like.
>Alternatively, the mech can act as a spotter, loader, or some other role to support Artillery fire.
>Despite technically being a long-range weapon, Sniper Rifles are a no-go.
Send your entries to gunplaplamo@gmail.com with at least 5 photos of your finished build along with any WIP photos and a description of your entry.

Are there news about any new reprints yet?
i cant tell if my glass file is getting dull or the plastic is just shit
>>23355646Probably clogged. Glass doesn't wear or go blunt like metal does, if there's microscopic fracture it just shatters.
>>23355646It only lasts for one kit, if you're patient. Yes its probably dull.
what's the best way to paint something like the gundam hammer chain part?
>>23355685suspend it between 2 skewers
Anyone picked this guy up before? Or built any Orange Cat kits? How are they? All I"m finding online is info about a lack of inner frame, but I don't know what that means as far as the sturdiness of the kit.
>>23355679You're full of shit bro my glass file has lasted me dozens of kits and still works. You probably just do it too hard like a dumb monkey or you just never bothered to clean it. Probably both
>>23355735I have it. Beside the boring design and absurdly long legs, in term of engineering and detail sculpt, it is fine.
>>23355753I don't mind the design. I was even contemplating just painting it in two colours, the black and gold, get rid of the rest.
Do you need an especially thick coat of matte between decals and weathering? I'm scared real touch markers will make the decals borders more apparent
>>23355745Nah, you may as well file your nubs with a paper towel after it starts getting blunt. I just take a new one from the bag when it starts slowing down.
>>23355769Not from my experience, topcoat locks everything in pretty damn good. What topcoat?
>>23355688i meant more so how to paint it without the tightly linked moving chain parts raping up any paint you put down on it when you go to pose it after
>>23355832it's a chain it's not going to look perfectly pristine
>>23355835i'm going to just flat coat it and forget about it
>>23355829I use a random painter varnish
I'm not worried about the decals slipping since I have locked them in just fine on other builds, but I fear the marker smudges will highlight the decal's borders since they won't be 100% flat
>>23355832both of the gundam hammer chains i have (hg g30th and mg turn a) are really loosely linked. i didn't bother painting the g30th one because it's metal anyway but the turn a one had no problems with lacquer paint
>>23355842It will be fine anon.
>>23355851Can I get a gqx hambrabi instead?
>>23355851the fuck's hakuji-packs
>>23355864tha glorified compensator it carries around, named after the beta gyan because khara are fanboys
>>23355863You will buy the retarded zaku and gundam and you will like it, gaijin. Except if we decide that we don't want your money.
i do hope we get a season 2 or a spin off, I very much enjoy these mechanical designs
>>23355954>i do hope we get a season 2
>>23355954such a mixed bag, some are almost good but the majority are total shit, maybe good for kit bashing and thats about it
also what the fuck would a season 2 even be about? the entire point of gqux was just fan service and references to show all our characters getting a happy ending, now they just dont get a happy ending?
>>23355967>fan serviceThat schizoid tier fever dream is fan service?
>>23355611 (OP)Holy shit its Custom Robo
>>23355954i don't think they are done with the GQX universe either, MG Gfred and Gqux will go hard.
>>23355972>happier endingbig brother char brings lalah around the palace and it become a goofy slice of life culture clash between an East Indian and Artesia
>>23355978hey im no fan either
>>23355954I wish they didn't abandon the more mechanical designs after the doms showed up. I was really looking forward to seeing more designs like the rx-78-2s head movement being based off how turrets move. You could not convince me the gyan and the designs shown in episodes 1-3 were from the same show with out of context pictures.
>>23355989the more mechanically exposed ones are supposed to be prototypes. inevitably they would cover a lot of those exposed mechanics or belts with armour or cladding
>>23355986>hey im no fan eitherI'm just trying to figure out how this is fan service and not chinese tier bootlegging meets star wars "just tell the original trilogy again our fans are lemmings" in bandai form. Omitted a couple additional descriptors.
>>23355992I suppose that makes sense, but the gelgoog looked less stylistically different than the gyan did despite looking less exposed than the gundam
>>23356005its not perfect or consistent but I believe that was the idea
>>23355989>You could not convince me the gyan and the designs shown in episodes 1-3 were from the same show with out of context pictures.None of them are from the same show. The RX-78-2 gets stolen and then for some reason everything looks like an Eva. Except the Dom that is now with a third leg and donning a steam punk chest.
>>23356016when the quuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuux did the evangelion teeth thing I audibly laughed
>>23355954I just hope we get full designs and subsequent kits for Gogg, Zgok and Zock. Not even asking for Acguy
>>23355954I'm kind of iffed that most designs lack skirt armor
the legs feel too bare
>>23355846the red gundam ones are pretty tightly linked and aren't loose at all. you can see it best on the bottom of the pic close to the ball. the chain is kind of like those RG innerframe joint parts
>>23355954There's only two good designs in this pic, fuck off.
>>23355954I really do not like they way they handled elbow joints even in the show it looks like an action figure with just a single mating point pivot piece
What are the chances of Bandai releasing option kits for quuux?
>>23356086ive heard the sale of the quuuux kits aren't great so probably low
>>23356086What options are there even? I can only think of a little pack for those clan battle Zakus and maybe 01 head to put on white/red gundam
What are the chances of Bandai releasing an hg zakutank?
>>23356115They had the golden chance during the requivem for vengeance run but instead they just made gundams and zakus.
>>23356127Please God let both of these series be dead and bandai not just being bandai and releasing toy robots 2 years after they aired and nobody gives a shit any more.
>>23356115You will buy chink MG Zaku tank and you will be happy
>>23356128Don't worry Anon, I've been grinding blender for months now and one of these days I'll buy a 3d printer and make a 1/144 scale zaku tank conversion kit and post a picture here so you guys can have a look.
>>23356127>>23356129I guess more people needed to buy the $70 (plus tip) pbandai combo packs...I'm honestly a bit surprised they didn't release a recolor of the gouf revive with maybe a new sprue and call it "rfv ver" considering how little it deviated from the legacy design, especially compared to the zaku.
>>23356129when are the chinks going to copy the 1/144 hard graph sets? I want my properly scaled oyw ifvs
>>23356115Buy this guy + generic Zaku 2 and maybe Byarlant custom for it's claws and you can have your very own Zaku Tank
>>23356069three, gqux, red and gfred
>>23356143kitbashing is evil
>>23356134RFV was the perfect chance to hawk some tanks. The feds even had the Type B on screen so both sides could have treadboys to collect, but in the end I guess they thought the market needed more Zaku IIs
>>23356148But Zaku tank is a lore-accurate kitbash
>>23356151your mother is a lore-accurate kitbash
>>23356056IBO really minimized the skirt too. Barbatos is wearing very little in the front and it's got those high side skirts that you can fan out.
It's something that gets in the way of posing models so I can see why it's done this way. Bigass skirts and models that cant move just feel cheaper.
>>23356056I don't like skirts but the gaps look really weird on red gundam and guncannon
>>23356154Who are you to judge God's design
>>23355954>still no retail gquuuuuuux in europehonestly good, show's over (and bad) and i lost all hype or interest for it
>>23356173what's a god to a snapgod?
>>23356149I think we aren't done with seeing what RFV is able to cook up. I think a lot of their designers were working on GQX kits at the time and they will probably pivot back.
>>23356162>Bigass skirts and models that cant move just feel cheaper. You take that back faggot
>>23356145No, two. Lightcannon and Gyan Hakuji.
What is a good kit that isnt a Gundam or Zaku?
>>23356162>Bigass skirts and models that cant move just feel cheaper. Here is your hyper articulated model bro
>>23356178I fucking love Kondo and Kobayashi's way of designing the mechs. They look more like something came out of Keita Amemiya's toku rather than colorful action figures.
>>23356208this unironically looks better than any rx to me, but i'll probably never buy it because the centipede cursed it for me
>>23355615I painted all the nozzles for the Nightingale. Debating on making the propellant tanks a bright white instead of grey.
>>23355954Huh, Wheres the big one? There was a rectangle with a TBA placeholder that had like a 5 digit yen price
Where did it go!
>>23356225They're saving that for Great GQuuuuuX, where a Zeknova causes a time warped Mashymre Cello to appear before Axis, and begin the charge of Haman Karn's Axis Zeon to save the world from the evils of Bask Om's Glemy clone army.
Who is this for?

>>23356212people think this texture looks good? looks like a rock
>>23356321Better than the plastic shine
>>23356321It's meant to look like cast armor as seen on WWII-era tanks. Note that the Kondo and Koba also use Zimmerit textures on various parts of their models some times as well.
>>23356102only two of the kits are worth getting so far, ultimately people dont really care for a no frills grunt suit

>>23356355Zimmerit is more of a Kondo thing. Kobayashi uses rust and industrial designs for the joints.
>>23356319M-
>fatNever mind.
Is there a list anywhere of the color variants of kits you can make from other kits? for example making a green GM sniper 2 from the GM sniper K9.
>>23356396It is hard to tell because not every kits have enough spare parts to recreate the original design.
>>23356220What was your process for the heat discoloration? Just masking it?
>>23356396yeah, dalong and schizophonic
Bros the cap of my Tamiya extra thin cement has a crack on it because I kept closing and opening it with my teeth. The heck do I do now?
>>23356412cement the crack? retard
>>23356412Why are you opening it with your fucking teeth?
When you guys topcoat, do you tend to topcoat entire arms, legs etc? or individual bits of plastic? or kinda part disassemble? im trying to find the time-results ratio
>>23356191 The digimon Gallantmon kit is a nice change of pace
>>23356416always sub assemblies. Forearms on their own, shoulders on their own, etc. Just try and hit the major visible joints on their own too.
>>23356416I feel like i fuck up less when i work on smaller separate pieces
>>23356416I do it in parts usually. I think it's a good habit to clearcoat painted parts before assembly to protect the paint.
>>23356416This
>>23356423 way. Limbs, waist, chest, backpack. Clip them on a alligator clip and turn it for full coverage. Anyone else enjoy the smell of Mr super clear topcoat?
How much of the Side-F Nu is new runners? I'm assuming it's just the long range funnel and the backpack right?
>>23355954>I enjoy these mechanical designs>literally every single one there looks exponentially worse than the thing they are based on>many of them look bad in their own in a vacuum ignoring they are even from gundaniumpeople like you should be studied what is your favorite few musicians and your favorite movies? What is your favorite color? Have you had any head injuries? Any history of contact sports perhaps?
>>23355954The only one I dislike if the GFreD and I'm neutral on the GquuuX. Rest I like a lot.
>>23356463we have another anti greeble nigga here
>>23356461There's actually several duplicate runners because the pieces that need to be molded in different colors are spread across several of them. The box is actually a lot bigger than the stock RG Nu.
>>23356480>The box is actually a lot bigger than the stock RG Nu.Okay holy shit that explains so much. I kept looking at this box and was just fucking confused as to what was making it so big which is why I was wondering if there were just a ton of new runners.
Like the box is definitely slightly bigger than the RG Hi-Nu.
>>23356472A lot of these are just simply ugly looking and greeble or lack of greeble isnโt even the main issue. Look at the zaku. It looks like someone inflated its stomach like a fucking Tom and Jerry cartoon. It literally looks like itโs in pain. Too many changes with these designs seem like โwe have Anno on board, when he made the rebuilds he got really whacky with how everything looked. We should do that too.โ โAnno made a gundam with 4 legs? Haha interesting!!! We will make a Chernobyl DOM with a 3rd leg!!โ โGive the gundam 4 fucking eyeballs like unit 02!!!โ Fuck up the GM and call it a gelgoog!!โ Those guys were inhaling each others farts while planning this shit out. They needed a guy to tell them no.
>>23356472greebes aren't the issue, the weird fat zaku just looks like shit
Why do newfags seethe about Anno so much? It's not even like they dislike him they just have a fervent hatred of him, anything he's made, and anything he's been adjacent to.
>>23356485Two big runners not only molded in a different color, but entirely duplicated and present in the box at the same time as the original runners. On top of adding all the Long Range Fin Funnel runners. Doesn't really make up for them removing one or two small runners needed to make the regular Fin Funnels.
>>23356504Kind of bizarre, presumably this WAS the most cost effective way to do it but that just seems nuts to me.
>>23356501Because he is a massive hack. I was a giant Eva fan when I was a teenager because at that age I had nothing to compare it too. But the more stuff I watched as I got older the more I realized evangelion almost entirely just hinges on how well the Evaโs were designed by whoever they had as the mechanical designer. Then announced had an opportunity with the rebuilds to correct and improve the original tv series with careful consideration to make something great, then he double downed on his schizophrenic shit and made the rebuilds. NOW he is involved with a gundam series and by some WEIRD coincidence everything looks fucking retarded just like the rebuilds designs. Itโs almost as if the guy is a hack and it was the people he worked with in the past that enabled evangelion to work at all.
>>23355851I cant wait for this so that I could remove the tumors and replace it with fuel tanks.
>Seething about Anno
>Not seething about the fucking mechanical designer who suspiciously worked on both franchises.
Behead every single newfag holy fuck.
>>23356415Probably because he has weak lil baby hands
>>23356504>Makes new colored runner for snapshitting instead of just releasing it in incorrect color and let the modelers do the restHeh, "Real Grade" is a joke that keeps on giving.
>>23356220Just painted them in steps, silver base, thinned orange, red, purple, blue, bright blue then a gloss clear. Airbrush at low PSI with a 0.2mm tip. The yellow parts are separate on this kit, so I didn't need to mask them.
no opinion on anno but for me tsurumaki is a red flag on anything from now on
>>23356525Because the mechanical designer is operating under the guidance and request of the people above him. And you are a naive imbecile if you think a team having ANNO on board isnโt going to be directly or indirectly influence because of how much they suck off evangelion and the rebuilds in Japan. Iโve been here since 2005. that was also coincidentally when I was obsessed with evangelion before realizing itโs slop.
Lots of mechanical designers work on like 50 different projects and the designs they make are going to be different because because they are making shit that suits the desires of the people they work for.
>>23356537I was afraid I overthinned the green for the eyes but it turned out fine
>>23356542No, instead I think the guy who's been making the same mechanical designs for decades may just have a specific design philosophy you fucktard.
>>23356544One cool close up pic
>>23356549And lastly get god gundabbed on
>>23356507Whenever possible, Bandai tends to design runners so that parts that need to be replaced for P-Bandai versions (or just separate retail versions) are placed on the same runners for efficiency whenever allowed (e.g. the MG SEED Gundams and MG 00 non-Exia kits sharing generic body frame runners, and several of HG Typhoeus Chimera's runners being earmarked for the HG Psyco Gundam Mk II which released a year and a half later). But in this particular case of the FF versions of Nu and Sazabi, they were designed 3-4 years after the original RG kits were released, so that wasn't an option.
>>23356542It is more nuanced than that. The designer can change the design according to the director's request, however, it is still the designer's aesthetic that decides everything in the end regardless of the changes. Everything Yamashita did have that specific looks no matter who were the directors.
>>23356549Clean. Now replace core lander with a cannon backpack and submit it in a groupbuild
>>23356558I'm afraid it is too late. But GOD CANON is a good idea
>>23356410Thanks, is there a certain category with those kits in or is it mentioned in their reviews?
>>23356567Apart from his much earlier reviews (sorry I have no idea when the cutoff for this is) schizophonic always shows the extra parts and notes whether the model kit can be built in other forms. If it can he usually has a picture of it built with the included parts, and if it can't, he notes what it's missing. Lots of dalong reviews feature pictures of spare parts but I think he's gotten lazy about it with PB stuff. He's worse about calling out alternate modelling forms and stuff.
Off the top of my head I can tell you just about every single Pale Rider variation kit includes a wealth of surplus parts and the ability to build the basic Pale Rider in Red/Black/White/Titans/Gundam Scheme.
>>23356595Nice, thank you very much anon.
Is there a point buying RG Unicorn if RG Full Armor Unicorn exists?
>>23356544>>23356549Which red is that? It's really nice.
>>23356620The point is to not blowing your cash on some ugly clusterfucks. FA Unicorn is so fucking ugly in a toyetic way.
>>23356629>Unicorn is so fucking ugly in a toyetic wayftfy
>>23356628Gaia nazca flame red over gaia normal pink surfacer. I wanted the blue to be popping like the red but I bought the wrong paints and realized too late
>>23356635>Gaia nazca flame redfigured as much, I really like the look of it but I never found a good substitute from other brands
>>23356638Maybe tamiya mica red over pink could be similar. I only ever used the spray paint version of it over gray surfacer, but it certainly wasn't as popping as flame red

How fucked is my airbrush needle?
>>23356668lol
you could try pulling it through some metal tweezers a few times to straighten it out a bit (fixed one of my needles but it was only bent right at the very tip, nothing like yours) but you're probably gonna just wanna buy a new needle
>>23356668clap it between two planks of wood and slowly pull it out. Repeat til straight. If that doesn't work commit ritual sudoku with the bent needle as Meijin Kawaguchi himself would in shame.
>>23356668got the mawfuggin droopsnoot on this bih
>>23356620normal unicorn is red while fa is green, doesn't matter if you're painting over it though
>>23356668This is easy to fix so not really fucked.
>>23356668how does this happen
>Really like the Fake Nu Gundam
>Need to buy the Alus Gundam
>Then I have to buy the armor and weapons which are both sold separately
Did the Core Gundam have this type of shit?
>>23356787Yeah I had to deal with the same bullshit for the Nepteight.
>>23356807How do I know if a Core Gundam comes with the armor and weapons? Does this come with a Core Gundam?
>>23356827Can't you read what's on the box?
>>23356827Nvm I think I see, so if it just says UNIT, its just the armor. But if it says CORE, it comes with both the Gundam AND the armor for it, yes?
So why does Nepteight and Fake Nu require you to buy both the armor and weapons separately?
>>23356545>>23356556Look at all of the guys who have worked on gundam, the actual big names. They have a style but the designs that made have changed drastically over the years based on the project they work on.
>>23356829I was looking at the picture before reading
Anyone ever mess around with using cheap fish tanks as display cases or making dioramas with them? I was looking at getting some acrylic ones, but my local Daiso doesn't have ones tall enough for Gunplay and the ones at hobby stores are twice as expensive as stuff like pic related and don't come with lights.
>>23356830Because some designs got the cocksuck and others that were expected to be unpopular got that crap. They also really started embracing option sets at that point for the Build Line. At the time it wasn't a big deal, arguably even nice to split them up. I'm sure it sucks now trying to track down shit without recent reprints though. At the least I don't think they'd ever not reprint them in pairs.
>>23356831Shut the fuck up faggot you're a retard.
Wanna make a custom G-Doors. Where am I supposed to start? Titans blue rattle cans and green gundam markers?
If Gunpla is supposed to be for kids and teens, what Gunpla is meant for adults?
Painted Minimum Factory Basara here. He's not really done until the (delayed) Mylene kit comes out so I can connect their bases together.
>>23356875Love the little details on his guitar.
>>23356875>>23356878Looks fantastic, reminds me I need to put decals on my YF-19.
>>23356875I thought I was in /buyfag/ and that this was a prepainting figi for a second. Very nice
>>23356839Iโm right. Look at their Wikipedia entries and look at their credits on what franchises they have made things for. Half the time it doesnโt even look like something they would have made. These designs look so retarded there is a 0 percent chance it wasnโt partially because someone somewhere said that was a direction they needed to go. They probably didnโt say we need it too look retarded but they probably kept emphasizing weird and different.
>>23356881You're literally fucking wrong what is wrong with your brain. We posted proof he's been making the same designs for decades. Just shut the fuck up and quit acting like you have some kind of knowledge about anything you lifelong tourist.
>>23356416advanced snapgod
>>23356880ty
I was initially going to shell out for the much pricier Mylene+Basara pre-paint, but I was too cheap for it. I ended up cribbing some of the coloring decisions though like the metallic yellow and green gems on the guitar.
>>23356883At this point are you arguing about the rebuilds evangelion designs or the newest gundam shows designs? What is your proof even relating to? That the guy who made the rebuild designs always made weird shit? Or that the guy who did the newest gundam designs always made weird shit? Because that image you showed me is weird but it really isnโt THAT bad and actually looks kind of good compared to much of the stuff in the evangelion rebuilds and the newest gundam show. The thing you posted looks pretty streamlined and other that the weird paint scheme looks sleek. Almost everything from the new gundam show either looks inflated, ridiculously proportioned, looks ugly, or is covered in all kind of random pointless small shapes. The thing you posted at least looks sleek like I said.
>>23356886I have to admit I am disappointed but more like when you have a family member that you know is capable of more and they let you down than me being angry about it. Theyโve done better work. Theyโre capable of more.
>He's serious about brush painting with metallic gold
>>23356511The people he worked with in the past are the ones who made gquuuuuux. The only thing he touched was the writing for the OYW stuff.
>>23356905How the fuck can you type so much and say so little of actual substance? Every post you make in this thread is honestly completely fucking garbage.
>>23356913It doesnโt look like vintage gainax or whatever it looks like annos stupid rebuild universe.
>>23356912I need to figure out how to brush paint metallic gold for some details, but Tamiya enamel gold not actually being enamel has thrown me for a loop.
>>23356923brush with any sort of metallic paint on small areas is fine, but doing it on broad areas is just an exercise in self-harm.
>>23356917I could say that about you I donโt even understand what you were arguing about or what point you were trying to make. the base issue is pretty much everything in the new entry looks like dogshit. If you like it cool. But nearly 100% of the designs are strict downgrades.
All I remember saying earlier is Iโm not surprised that everything in this looks like such dogshit. Because Anno is on it. And the only reason I said that is that Anno made the rebuilds. He took the streamlined iconic designs of the TV series and turned them into a mess. And then the plot was reworked just like this show into something so retarded it isnโt even worth watching. maybe it isnโt his fault but it sure is an interesting coincidence. Because itโs the only one he has ever worked on. And itโs just the rebuild of the gundam series
>>23356929>the base issue is pretty much everything in the new entry looks like dogshit. If you like it cool. But nearly 100% of the designs are strict downgrades.you are such a ridiculous caricature of a manchild it's insane
>>23356929NTA but you have literal brain damage. He didn't design Rebuild mechs or Gcucks mechs. You kinda remind me of that faggots who couldn't shut up about Kojima everytime something designed by Yoji Shinkawa was posted. Credit the right people for fuck sake.
>>23356939nice fucking argument you have there cool ad hominem attack very impressive. Itโs a visual medium of course people are going to be critical of the way things look. Especially in a franchise like gundam that largely is alive because there were good enough designs in the first show that they were able to make model kits. There is little to nothing offered by this show that I would want anywhere in my house. They can do better if it bugs you whatever keep tweaking then.
>>23356958You're a dumbfuck and should go on Twitter if you want to just pointlessly cry about Anno all fucking day.
>>23356958how many posts are you going to spend whining that you don't personally enjoy robot designs before you get tired of it
>>23356958Gcuck designs were made by Yamashita, Toshiaki Ihara, Sejoon Kim and Mahiro Maeda. Literally 4 people adjusting each other's artworks.
>>23356961I can make the same argument to you and ask why you care so much to argue. there are a lot of people complaining about this show I can speak my mind or not and you are going to see people saying the same shit anyway. Get used to it. Iโm passing time right now. Next week there will be another guy saying the same shit as me I wonder if youโll be arguing with them too.
>>23356963You act like itโs just me. Until Iโm bored I guess. which is about now.
>>23356968Iโll look more into it later but as I said before. TV evangelion had good art. The rebuilds were largely Annos vision and those are infamous and people still argue about everything about them today. The plot is schizophrenic. The new designs are retarded. Everything that was familiar has been changed with unnecessary extra shit everywhere. Itโs like a bad fan fiction but made by the same guy 20 years after he lost his touch. My point being is itโs a normal and reasonable observation to make that this gundam entry shares a lot of similarities with the rebuild project and the fact itโs the first gundam entry with Anno in it means that he probably had more influence on the project than a lot of people let on.
>>23356989>I can make the same argument to you and ask why you care so much to argue. I don't really care that much, since I know I'm right there's basically nothing in this for me except calling you retarded. But clearly you don't know you're in the right so getting called retarded is really getting to you, you'll probably be worried for awhile if you've just been retarded all along.
>>23356989Again, Ihara and Yamashita made Rebuild designs. At worst, Anno could have given them some feedback but that wouldn't change how Yamashita drew. You don't hire Gyobu and then expect him to draw like Kobayashi, arguably, it is the director's responsibility to hire specific artists but it is still the artist's fault if his designs ended up ugly.
>>23357000Nice trips. Iโm bored of this argument and because you got trips I concede to your wisdom.
>>23357007Did those guys work on the original tv series as well? Because thatโs my entire reasoning for why I blame Anno for how things look with the rebuilds. He already had people do the heavy lifting for him and make everything look as good as possible in the TV series. Thatโs what sold the show. Everything in the Rebuild series looks worse. And I donโt understand why everything would look shittier in the rebuild unless it was at annos direction to make everything different. So he either hired new guys or he told the old guys to keep making new shit until it suited annos tastes.
>>23357031You should understand that Anno didn't make the Cgi models or animation of Rebuild movies. The thing he can be blamed for legitimately was the story. Anything beyond that is the staff's fault. Sometimes things didn't go well. There were alot of new bloods in Khara, too. Most of old people worked on tv show stayed in Gainax and then moved to numerous other studio before the bankrupt.
>>23356781It falls on the floor in just the right way.
>People be whining about how rare and expensive the HGUC 1/144 Moon Gundam is
>Found 2 of them in a discount store on two separate occasions, $10 each.
>Had all parts
>Bought both of them.
>>233567816 years, hundreds of hours, and multiple floor-drops worth of usage.
>>23357087That's crazy. I kill like two needles a year.
>>23356887>>23356878>>23356875idk who this character is from, but it's refreshing to see something that isn't a mechanoid 12 year-old girl with balloon tits. Nice job.
>>23357087>multiple floor dropsYou must be blessed. Whenever I drop something it breaks or become near unusable. I used single bladed nippers with one tip bent for a year
>>23357088>>23357096If I knew how easy and cheap it was to buy replacement needles from Spraygunner, I would've done so years ago. I've had to strip paint and start over on soooo many parts because my bent needle ends up spurting globs of paint all over the place.
>>23357096I drop my red god hands all the time and they're fine. What kind are you using?
>>23357034You seem like a reasonable guy so Iโm going to tell you you something and I will hear you out and take what you say into consideration because I might be wrong or the truth might be in the middle.
I understand that Anno did not design anything in the rebuild series. However it was his choice (as far as I know ) to discard all of the time tested designs that had worked for years. And to replace them with the rebuild designs that he approved of. I donโt think he would have had the funding in the first place to make the rebuild series if there was something wrong or subpar with the original tv designs which had already sold a ridiculous amount of merchandise over the years. for every one decent design there is like 10 things that appeal to almost no one. even the weakest angel designs of the tv series are something that many fans would have wanted a figure or statue of. There is too much in the rebuild that almost no one wants or cares about because it just looks like shit.
Because the writing of the rebuild series is so schizophrenic it alienated a huge amount of the fan base who largely agree it went off the rails by the third film. I would argue the cracks appeared in the second movie. Because both the rebuild designs are so ridiculous and the plot of the rebuilds are so ridiculous, and Anno was the director, it seems like a cohesive choice he made to make everything as bizarre as possible. That was his choice. Him hand crafting something isnโt the point. I think that everyone involved was working off of his direction and that was what the problem was.
Iโm pretty sure that people here have shared concept art of the rebuilds and the baffling thing is that even some of the concept art looks better than what we got in the final product, so yet again it feels like it comes back to Anno. I donโt hate the guy or even dislike him but I feel like the project would have benefitted from a different director.
>>23357095Don't worry, I have a 3 year old with giant tits I'm going to do soon.
>>23357034>blamed for the storyI do... everyday.
>>23357106Anyone can wipe the slate clean and just decide that itโs an alternate timeline. You donโt need Anno for that. And at that point there are hundreds of plots that probably would have worked out better and an infinite amount of better visual designs that would have been received better. So at that point Iโm just finishing explaining that Anno was not necessary in anyway for the rebuild project to even happen. The reason why I get so frustrated with the finished product is that he had like two decades to think idly about what he could have improved or what he could have changed yet the final product quite obviously was something he just improvised by the seat of his pants so his inclusion really was never needed to begin with.
>>23357102Blue god hands. Dropped them only once but fell right on the tip. Bought new ones this year, finally. I still use the bent ones for clear parts
>>23357122This is why I do not use blue god hands
>>23357124>>23357122Are the orange ones the ones that are like 20 bucks cheaper and slightly more durable but not as sharp? Iโve been thinking of getting those as my first set.
Iโve built a lot of model kits but have only ever used store generic clippers so Iโm not sure what to expect. Iโve considered buying a second set for a family member who shows interest in building model kits but I donโt want to get them something that will break once if he drops them or cuts the wrong section of the sprue.
>>23357106You should think about another possibility of the designer making some terrible design and they could have been Anno's personal taste. Never give your leader an inch, no matter how much he screeched at you.
For the annon crying about Anno and Gcucks mecha designs, the art direction for the mechs was decided by the show's producer, Yuki Sugitani.

You donโt need Anno for that. When Rebuild started, Anno didn't own the original Eva, but through negotiation and lending money to Gainax, they allowed him to own anything related to the Rebuilds. That's why redesigns were necessary before any creative decision. Note how merchandising based on the original Eva basically disappeared too until Anno got the rights back to it.
Although he obviously won't admit it publicly, that's basically the reason Rebuild exists in the first place. It allowed him to take over Eva's merch from Gainax, even before he later recovered the actual full series itself.
>>23357176The odds of them getting MG kits is quite high, it's mainly just a matter of when. After all, Narrative and Zoltan's Sinanju had to wait six years before they got MG kits. I suspect that Xi and Penelope will have to wait until 2027 at the earliest.

I built one of the Jestas and its pretty good so I assume the rest are nice. The Jesta cannon was $10 and while I haven't built it yet, it came with booster, beam and muzzle flash effects and that alone made it worth it. The southern cross zaku II and the char zaku Is were made with different plastic that felt kind of different and had a lot of flash, but it came out alright (They're going to 'die' to my feddy boys anyway so I don't mind). The only new bootleg I can truly call 'bad' is the Sleeves Dra-C, the thing had a wobbly neck joint so it'll need proper effort to fix. Expensive too at $6 for a kit with no legs and only one arm.
No pics sadly, I'm in the middle of a move and I still haven't set up my painting station.

its whatever the fuck you want it to be
>>23358531>purely structuralCmon man, it has three hidden thrusters in each shoulder that literally cannot be used or seen unless it "transforms." There's more in the skirt and legs too. Went to USAGS to grab some kits, I thought the place was closed cause there wasnt anybody and most lights were out, but then i saw Zakuaurelius in the back
He was sitting on a chair while an employee was cutting his hair, he had the hairdresser cape on and all. Anyways, he looked super pissed that i saw him like that. I said hello but they didn't answer so I started browsing, Zak got up and i heard him mumble "fuck off" to the other guy, then he went behind the counter and started doing these loud exasperated sighs.
At this point I was feeling very uncomfortable so I just grabbed a random HG and went to pay. I said hello again but Zak just grunted "don't have internet?". I was a bit taken aback but then i understood what he meant and I replied that every time i order online the boxes are all banged up, but i trailed off because he was looking at me like i was the dumbest animal he ever seen. He still had the cape but turned to the back so he looked like dracula and his hair looked very upsetting wet
"Ok that's 200$, cash or credit?" I was too scared to contest so I took out the money from my wallet and he like snatched it off my hand. Then he started pounding on the box like a huge gorilla, I literally shat my pants. He tossed the remnants at me and disappeared in the backroom while roaring "KYYYYYLE". I ran for my life

>>23358711>Is the zaku commander its own zaku model? It's changed over time. The earliest reference to it being an S-Type was actually the theatrical program for the first compilation movie, though that says that it's just Char's personal suit. MSV expanded that to the S-Type being a limited production model of around 100 units (although that did also say it was 30% faster than normal, not 3x faster), while also including other commander variants like Garma's FS-Type, and even Dozle's just being a customised version of the regular F-Type. What Buyee does offer is package consolidation, which cuts down on individual costs dramatically, e.g. I've got 4 separate items consolidated into one at the moment sitting in the warehouse, the shipping was between ยฃ15 to ยฃ25 each for the cheapest options individually (for kits that were all <ยฃ10), but consolidated it's just shy of ยฃ25 for the lot, so that's where the real value of the service comes in

>>23355615I just painted Ma.K Luna Gans. Just a speed build with some kitbashes.
Now i need to pair him with a female operator, which is something i need to work on at a later date.
>>23360822Pfttt it's a 5 dollars GM Spartan bootleg. I use it as a test fodder before blasting paint on the actual project.
I also have Bandai's AC Nightfall as a fodder, too.
>>23360785>>23360790>>23360801You are the best poster gpg had in a while.
Please post your progress on walruletta.

Slop, my beloved. I think Iโm gonna paint the Quuux in G3 colors.
>>23355615knocked this fella out today. nice quick project
>>23360827Try blasting the paint on the model and not all over your hands and under your fingernails next time
>>23360990My hands were clean when i was still a snapshitter. Unfortunate change, though.
Who the fuck buys this? Like who wakes up one day and thinks that their figurine is cold and needs a cape.
New to gunpla here, I tried reading your OP and I just wanted to point out some of your links are dead/out of date. The ones that worked were helpful though.
Do you guys have any news about the chinese Phantom Gundam and Ghost Gundam bootleg?
>>23361037there's too much shit and most of it is outdated yeah, didnt have a good time sifting through it when i started
>>23361042The guide really hasnโt changed since I first read it on /toy/ around 2011
>>23360779>Bandai makes their kits however they want because TRVE MODELLERS don't complain about having to do work and paint.Agree. Any recommendations of RG kits? I want to use some putty on them.
>>23355613>>23355615I WILL complete my groupbuild entry on time this time
I WILL enter it
Work and the like WILL NOT prevent me
>>23361006being a paintchud means you arent allowed to cut or clean your nails? thats it, im staying a snapGOD forever
>>23361037If you mean Gelgoog Guy's guide, go ask him about it on the /toy/ thread, which he manages. I didn't want to emphasize that it's the sole guide for newcomers anymore, which is why it's in the category with all the other guides.
As for the other links, only Master Kawaguchi's gunpla tips (RIP) and the MOON Gundam lineart are dead, so I'll remove those for the next thread. Thanks for letting me know.

>>23360643ZZ ver got a normal reprint in June. Now the Dreissen on the other hand is only getting the Unicorn version reprinted this year
Just built my Moon Gundam. Idk why I took so long, it's such a nice kit. I see why everyone hyped it up so much when it first came out.
>>23361164>ZZ version already sold out on USA gundam storeTruly, hope is lost
>>23361207was this painted by dipping each piece in a bucket of interior house paint?
>>23361210That's just the magnetic coating (GQX Ver.)

AAAAA EXTEND GROUPBUILD DEADLINE
>>23361207The G3 color scheme can really make anything look good, huh?
>>23361033the previous groupbuild winner had a cape and it was cool. also pirate gundam cape is cool
Just realized the tiny mesh strainer in my old teapot is the literal perfect thing for part-washing
I have a cheap jewelry cleaner and it's kind of a piece of shit and this will probably work 100x better
>weapon kit 01 sold out instantly
What the fuck? Did they only print 1 single copy?
>>23361343They printed 5 and I bought them all.
>>23361343Happened with the Moon Gundam too, I'm absolutely seething it was sold out before 9:01
Fuck Bandai, what did they stock 2 of each real type color kit tonight? Within 30 seconds they were sold out. Same with Moon Gundam
>>23361353I at least got Zeta 3, red puke Unicorn and RG Perfect Unicorn.
>>23361346What I don't understand is why only the 01? It's just a fucking zaku machine gun and a generic gatling gun. None of the other weapon kits sold out yet
>>23361356Have you tried refreshing the page? It still shows instock for me
>>23361360jigaxe? havent even heard of it
gpg shills slacking
also my beloved G3 Gundam sold out in under a minute. Why don't they make these build to order?
Don't worry, all the sold out stuff will be at Anime Expo tomorrow. You can just buy it there.
>>23361372glad I booked my plane tickets
>>23361367It shows in stock on the search page but it says out of stock once you actually click on it. Typical pban website nonsense I guess
>>23361164Dreissen getting reprinted? When?
I want to get it is one of my fav Dom variants
>>23361377Last year they did one a day for a week but idk if there's gonna be a 2nd drop this time
>>23361391it's cute how surprised he looks
>>23361393The email notification I got called referred to today as DROP 1, so here's hoping

>14 dollar price increase
This is the current state of things
>>23361419soon they'll be asking the same price as amazon sellers...
>>23361419I wanted that one so bad
New thread. I removed the link to Master Kawaguchi's gunpla tips from the OP because it was deleted, and updated the lineart pastebin link to remove the deleted MOON Gundam category.
Also, I updated the restock list. One month left for the groupbuild.
