Kinda this. Taking single pics of the moon at high magnification will usually look disappointing because of the atmospheric turbulance which distorts the light.
So to get around that, it's best to take a few minutes of video. Plop the video into sacking software which rejects the bad quality frames and stacks the good ones on top of eachother to sharpen/stabalise the image. I did pic related with a phone camera, small scope, and stacked the frames, which i've converted to jpg because of /pol/s filesize limit..
