Honestly I saw the anime I struggle to decide what I actually think of Frieren.
For me it is great from the simple merit of not having fucking JRPG game mechanics/iskeai and trying to be it's own world for the reader to discover, the whole theme of enjoying the present is and making connections is good too.
But at the same time it has some odd choices here and there that I feel run counter to what the mangaka first presented, The Magical Exam arc is just one example of it, more than 10 episodes of it, when 5 was already too much imo.
So yeah I like it and I find it good, but it really missed it's potential to be great
