I am sure some people have shortened that to we are a Republic not a Democracy but if you are going to oversimplify the quote to mock us realize that you are a flaming faggot. At least be aware of what the quote is trying to convey. It conveys that our system incorporates a constitution which is a critical part of our system. It also reflects aspects that our founders wanted implemented as safeguards against mob rule. For example, we have both a senate and house - in part to protect smaller less populated states. We have an electoral college which again keeps one big state from deciding everything with a popular vote. We do not believe we invented either the Republic or Democracy. Our founders saw all the retarded stuff Europe tried and wanted to improve on what was good and not implement what was clearly shit. That said, America did innovate a lot of stuff that went on to be the basis of many modern European systems. If you weren't such retards you would know that about your own systems.
