2's campaigns are pretty fun gameplaywise, even though by LotV the plot is totally batshit incoherent.

Then a secret caste in the modern day had been experimenting with re-enabling them because things are pretty desperate populationwise. So now (you) need to deal with it" is fine on it's own, but it gets glossed over pretty quick like all the other fragmented protoss groups being integrated into your army. Then you get left with Artanis stuttering to excuse himself from the room whenever "Fenix" is like "hey I remember getting ganked by zerged, but this dragoon body seems different than the usual ones, is it a new model? and I've been reading records of what happened since I fell, and it mentions me fighting in battles I don't remember?" until he has to discover and accept what he is on his own offscreen.
