why are sc1 sprites so weird
Do you think she was a femcel?
>>716395573why would i think that
>>716395573I'm waiting on (you)!
>>716395075 (OP)Has she been confected?
I was always wondering about difference between infested Kerrigan icon and her appearance in cinematics/menu. Like how OP have her wearing some leopard patterned suit or something and clearly human face coming out of more Zerg-like carpace. Meanwhile cinematics shows no such distinction, plus having her dressed in rags of her former Terrain clothes (how they survived being placed in chrysalis for so long?).
>>716395573Funny how they dropped ugly Kerrigan from 1.
>>716396058what do you mean ugly???
>>716396173NTA but SC1 Kerrigan looks like some plastic chick, especially with those huge lips. SC2 one looks much better.
>>716395075 (OP)Wait till you see warcraft's sprites and icons, and that was after they'd gotten budget.
>>716396253Fuck off zoomer
>>716396253Clearly you don't have what it takes to graduate from the ghost academy. DSL is like #2 mandatory required trait.
SC1 on the whole has a weird negative aura, remember the Terran Academy?
>>716395075 (OP)just seeing this makes me hard. sc1 kerrigan must be responsible for the start of my evil woman enjoyment
>>716396253SC1 kerrigan sprite feels like it's inspired by 90s Angelina Jolie.
>>716395573>hot 4chud bimbo >>716396058>reddit-approved safe horny
Did the Zerg impregnate her?
>>716395075 (OP)because sc1 is wierd. it's basically warhammer 40k.
this was old blizzard before everything got dumbed down and turned into a disney themepark ride for kids.
>>716395573>this is a 10/10 in Koprulu
Imagine if in SC2 you have to hunt and kill the bitch.
>>716401965Why did Metzen do that?
>>716401965>it's basically warhammer 40k.It's anything but Warhammer40k.
Starcraft rip-offs Alien, Predator, Starship Troopers, Dune, Judge Dredd... and plays it straight
Warhammer 40k rip-offs Alien, Predator, Starship Troopers, Dune, Judge Dredd.... but it paints it all in European 90s comics aesthetics to avoid lawsuits.
It's why other European games look more or less identical but American sci-fi is something else.
Check out Black Moon Chronicles, for instance. You've got it all there.
>>716395573She reloaded many guns
they did like shadowed faces with glowing eyes

>>716395075 (OP)its not a sprite retard its an animated icon
>>716408238shes a redhead with dreadlocks.
>>716409431I always thought they were spines
>>716395075 (OP)How are they weird? They are digitized 3d models, and look pretty typical for cgi of the time, with a slight Blizzard flair.
>>716408186YOU THINK AS I DO
man, the Templars in BW were scary, threatening motherfuckers
SC2 completely assraped the Protoss
>>716409631SC2 ruined all of the races
>>716395075 (OP)256 colors and low resolution on pre-rendered videos.
>>716395075 (OP)StarCraft was originally envisioned as a gritty 90s sci-fi universe. The humans were a bunch of unwanted castaways, the dregs of human society that were sent into space Australia-style just to get them off of Earth and they turned into a bunch of ugly dysgenic hillbillies. It's in the manual for the first game. By the time SC2 came around they had completely dropped that grimy aesthetic so SC1 ends up looking weird by comparison.
>>716395075 (OP)>GHHHHNH>Yes, Cerebrate?>ALRIGHT!
>>716409996>StarCraft was originally envisioned as a gritty 90s sci-fi universeno, it was a copy of Warhammer.
>>716410103>no, it was a copy of a gritty sci-fi universeBrilliant contribution, americano.
>>716395075 (OP)>>716398974This look was better than her SC2 look for sure.
>>716410103GW paypigs are delusional. You can look at the earliest builds for SC1 (that run on the warcraft 2 engine) and they look distinctively like their own thing.
>>716410103see
>>716406965Warhammer was always derivative of the same exact things that Blizzard games are. That goes for both fantasy and space Warhammer.
>>716410253>(that run on the warcraft 2 engine)Which is a copy of C&C and Dune.
what was up with sc2 story, Kerigen was human became zerg, became human but jokes on you became zerg again.
>>716410103>I just learned about Warhammer and need to tell everyone about it all the timeI really wish you would kill yourself.
>>716395075 (OP)SC1 sprites were AWESOME
>>716410343the story actually ruined the game. The MP is fun, the campaign mission set up is good, the missions themselves are hit and miss but mostly good. The story is fucking retarded and contradicts brood war though.
>>716410103>warhammer isnt a gritty scifi universeOk retard.
>>716409483They become tendrils/spines once shes a zerg.
>>716410694Warhammer wasn't very gritty at all when Starcraft was in production. Warhammer shifted back to a gritty aesthetic shortly before Y2K.
You can't "ripoff" something that is entirely references to other properties, though.
>>716397663I'm 35 years old you fuck.

I remember how I was a kid back then and my older cousins was essentially trolling me that protoss are actually dead humans equipped with cybernetic implants and revived, hence their lack of mouth and overall weird look. Or how Starship Troopers was actually official Starcraft Movie.
>>716411825Try talking without a mouth and you will see.
>>716412143Giantess is actually popular fetish.
>>716412143Huh? What's this? There was a secret ending to LoTV? We nuked Amon back to the Void and that was it, no?
>>716412143I can't believe of badly SC2 ruined the entire aesthetic of Starcraft. Trying to create some ultimate cosmological villain is so fucking cringe. It was fine as a progenitor race that fucked off story.

>>716412281Yeah, epilogue missions. Kerrigan absorb "essence" of last surviving XelNaga, kick Amon ass once and for all as you support her with all three armies, step on Raynor and disappears. Zagara take control of Zerg and is now all peaceful with everyone, Protoss rebuild some colonies and try to repopulate, that nerd guy from WoL gets crazy and build cyber-swarm with robot Zergs, Arthur or how he was called from HotS try to make another war to keep Zergs evolving and is kicked within less than 24h and few other small shits. Oh and Nova gets rid of brainwashing.

The girl that originally voiced Kerrigan was fantastic, she was one of the best voiced characters of the 90s (not a high bar considering competition like DIE MONSTER YOU DON'T BELONG IN THIS WORLD)
They hired her back for Starcraft 2. Then shortly before Wings of Liberty they fired her and replaced her with the meme Battlestar girl.
Why?

>>716412143They spent so much time on WoW that they couldn't do anything else anymore. We lived long enough to actually see StarCraft become WarCraft in space.
I absolutely love how SC1 feels so grim, grimy, and gritty. The Zerg actually look terrifying and disgusting, /our boys/' tech looks cheap, jury-rigged, and mass produced, and the protoss actually come across as threatening and mysterious.
And then those themes are all thrown away to make SC2 campy sci-fi. I had my fun with Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm to a lesser extent, but it really doesn't feel like the same series.
I also love when Blizzard ends a game with the bad guy winning. Kerrigan/Arthas is a great character formula.
>>716412592>resocializedThat's a pleasant way to put it
>it's a zerglin' Lester. Smaller typ'a zerg

>>716395891When I first played SC2 I thought Kerrigan's human face was basically stapled onto the bug body like Robocop
>>716413007But it wouldn't be all the way out here unless- oh shit....
>>716412683I just beat LotV yesterday and don't remember seeing
>that nerd guy from WoL gets crazy and build cyber-swarm with robot Zergs, Arthur or how he was called from HotS try to make another war to keep Zergs evolving and is kicked within less than 24h and few other small shitsWhere does it show that
The Starcraft universe is my favorite Sci Fi setting in games. I know it's kitchen sink grim sci fi setting, but Samwise's character designs and the music just capture that 90s feeling so well. Somehow, by being a generic blend of the creator's favorite sci fi tropes, it stands above all the sci fi game worlds that have come after it.
It absolutely destroys Starfield's bland Tesla x Apple future. It's way better than Mass Effect's sleek and safe space opera. It's better than Warhammer 40K which turned itself into a tongue in cheek joke. It's better than the colorful retro futurism goofiness of Outer Worlds and No Man's Sky.
I so badly want to play something in the Starcraft universe other than an RTS. I want to play a first or third person shooter or something like Fallout 3. I just want to be able to explore the universe up close and personal and see more of the worldbuilding.

Only really interested in the campaigns since I never played them as a kid.

>>716413590It's good... if you can get used to the dated pathfinding and other idiosyncrasies.
Simple and effective story with memorable characters. The missions are largely just training you for multiplayer but they still hold up.
However, they didn't remake the cinematics for the Remaster, so it clashes with the other visuals.
Personally I prefer to play singleplayer with patch 1.16 and cnc-draw (nearest neighbour upscaling) because the vanilla mode in Remaster doesn't look good at all.

Warcraft, the original, Orcs and Humans was at one point in development in discussion to be a Warhammer title. Not 40k, fantasy.
Starcraft was never tied to an external IP. The zerg did not look like Tyrranids, rather after the success of Starcraft the Nids got redesigned.

Yes, 40k in turn was inspired by Starcraft.
>>716415237>The zerg did not look like Tyrranids, rather after the success of Starcraft the Nids got redesigned.Yeah, it's still wild to me that people believe otherwise nowadays. I was alive back then, I remember the change.
For you youngins, SC1 came out in '98. At that time, Tyranids looked like pic related. Around 2000-2001, they got redesigned into how you know them today.

>>716417047And Stukov, somehow. I guess we're expected to believe that his chunks were scraped off the floor and were jettisoned into the vacuumed of space and were (somehow) picked up by the Zerg, who then used their (something) to reanimate his dead cellular tissue and restore all of his destroyed DNA to bring him back to life with all of his memories.
I don't like the infusion of Disney/Warcraft magic into StarCraft.

>left in random cutscenes of Kerrigan psychically sending the swarm to wipe out planets in an instant with no apparent consequences
>that mission where Kerrigan sends a single Larva onto a Protoss ship and you have to Thing your way through the crew
>she then leaves this newborn Queen drifting toward Protoss space the order "kill them all" before losing psychic connection to it
>this has zero payoff or consequence in the Protoss campaign

>>716420576He reappears as a white scientist guy named Dr. Narud in Wings of Liberty who wants Jimmy to collect ancient xel'naga artifacts for totally not shady purposes. In Heart of the Swarm it's revealed that Narud and Duran are actually the same guy and he's actually a shape shifting xel'naga who all according to keikaku'd every single event in the series with the goal of becoming the one true god of the entire universe, but is eventually killed by the power of friendship and plot contrivances when kerrigan absorbs the essence of a friendly xel'naga who sacrificed itself to turn Kerrigan into a xel'naga too because only a space god can kill another space god or something like that.

Anyone else notice the SC2 campaigns get progressively easier and more baby mode?
Wings of Liberty felt fine to me. Easier than Brood War, but still challenging if you crank the difficulty up. There were even some missions I had to restart after getting my ass kicked too hard, knowing I couldn't recover from it.
Then with Heart of the Swarm, no matter what upgrades you pick, you can still easily steamroll nearly every mission.
Then, in Legacy of the Void, you don't even need to build a base 90% of the time, you just press F2, A, then click in the center of the objective and go afk. Hard difficulty in LotV is easy difficulty in HotS.

The campaign maps were better designed in SC 1 and BW. SC2 maps could feel too much like a multiplayer maps at times while SC1bw had situations like Ah crap this landing site doesn't have any gas.

>>716426748Given their only orifices are their eyes and how they're more akin to flora than fauna(they literally photosynthesize), one could assume they lay "eggs" or seeds and through psionics, combine their unique genetic codes to impart themselves upon it. Their skin looks rugged, so maybe a part just falls off and that's how a new protoss is grown. It's confirmed they have 2 sexes and produce offspring. Some are shown to have nipples and belly buttons for some reason, but I think that's just a problem of too many cooks in the kitchen.
