Liam Vickers' works are innately autistic and that's why they're kino. Liam's got a solidly hooked audience and his style is recognisable. The amount of dedication and quality there is in fan-works and personal projects dedicated to a short series like MD is noticable and MD also has the benefit of being big but not TOO big. So yes, it is autism but it's mostly good autism. There's bad examples in ever major fandom but as some others have said, MD benefits from being in the strange twilight zone of being popular but also niche.
Any comparison to a phenomena like Horse Show is ridiculous and silly.
