why not take the tuners out and put some that fit? the cracks are only gonna get worse even if they seem to "fit" now since the wood is under constant strain. You could probably still salvage the guitar.

I have a HB six string bass which I bought before I fully commited to buying an expensive sixxer and I put the warwick tuners on that one after I got the Gotohs on the wick and holy shit did I not know how much of a difference good tuners make, the instrument is fucking amazing now, it was great before but after putting some actual quality tuners on it the thing is on a whole other level. It's now my back-up bass beating several Ibanezes that cost a hell of a lot more.
