Thanks anon, I used to straight up skip any game content that involved water unless it was mandatory, but I slowly wore down at my own failures and became less of a pussy. Still am a bit, but you know how it is.

I'd say it's horror. Even ignoring the more giant monsters, it does too much in the way of enemies designed to make you afraid for it to not count. After enough time in game you start getting garbled radio messages from bioengineered killing machines that have killed all the other survivors but yourself and it's pretty freaky. And it's very very good. It avoids all the common survival game pitfalls with a premade map, and a very definitive ending, while offering a very rewarding feeling of exploration and progress
