I work at a state of the art chemical plant and up until 5 years ago we still used 70's CRT's with manual console commands in an MS-DOS style interface to operate half the plant, the other half still had pneumatic controllers with paper/ink needle-writers. Now we upgraded to modern PC's and the software is fucking garbage and unreliable. So yeah having the Nostromo use old tech is perfectly normal.
