Yes, but a lot of other elements and scenes are taken directly from Eva, and eva came out in 1995 during FF7's development. Law of Parsimony applies. They either got these concepts from elsewhere, or it's yet another element taken from Evangelion.
Other elements of Jenova are clearly taken from The Thing, but there's no scene like this in the movie, but there is in Eva.

Technically very little in Berserk is novel in terms of designs, and you could always say "Berserk didn't invent bloated knight's armor!" but there it is.
Resident Evil dev team admit to just renting VHS tapes, and watching them until they saw scenes or visuals they liked then copied them. This is why RE ends up copying mainstream hollywood films like Judge Dread at times, then copying obscure shit like Grizzly (1976). This time period was renowned for devs just mad copying media, especially western media but sometimes anime.
