I personally like Digimon's branching evolution trees, but I do want the evo options to make visual or thematic sense

Thankfully Bandai has really been working to design new Digimon that fill evolutionary gaps lately and have elements that make them work well as evolutioon or prevolution options for multiple existing Digimon.

Pic related is one example, but see also say how Regalecusmon has Ebidramon armor to make him evolving from Gusokumon make sense in addition to his obvious fish elements, or how Vulturemon in addition to his obvious bird elements, also has his sand hourglass and his cactus pauldron to make him evolving from sand/mineral digimon and togemon seem less jarring, etc
