My advice from a previous thread

Full Tactical Usbs farming takes a few hours but significantly increases exp gains and can be save scammed each time because the item is only decided as the island finishes but requires Digimon natures and island makes it reasonable so which take a few chapters.

Motimon to Hagurumon to PlatinumSukamon will give you a Digimon that increases exp gain. Eventually your have the memory for three of them and that should handle any story grinding.

For ones like Lilithmon your want to go full PlatinumNumemon which involves dedigivolving back to Hagurumon then going GoldNumemon and then PlatinumNumemon. Obviously not all of them at once or your lose out on exp boosting and be doing it the hard way.

Assuming full PlatinumNumemon, full tactical usbs and more then a mid game location you can have a rookie go to mega in side of about 10 minutes assuming its not demon lord or royal knight where's its more like twenty.

It's a balance thing to prevent you from just beelining to PlatinumSukamon/Numemon and then getting Megas and Ultras before you even get out of chapter 2. Both CS and HM are balanced around giving you just the right amount of Memory Ups so that you can't completely break the balance or stack the deck too much.

Once you reach chapter 8 or 9 in either game that's when it stops holding you back as much and by the last few chapters you can have an entire party of Megas and some scattered Ultras.

still liked the gameplay though. just too flawed (moveset is too barebones, charge attacks are worthless, skill point grind is criminal, item drops are shit, x-data drops are too fucking stingy, etc.)
I really liked two things, though: the blocking mechanic (you can block energy balls, bullets, poison gas, explosions, and even literal fucking light), and the 360 spinny attack (if you input a 360, the game buffers until you move, making it really comfy to pull off)

One Vaccine, one Data, one Virus. One or two should be your main attackers and then the other is a support. This honestly will not matter until like the half way point of the game, most of the beginning half of the game is brute forcing paired with some buffing if you're on Hard. On basic encounters your composition doesn't really matter at all, it's mostly the boss battles where it matters, and you can also just run two Vaccines/Viruses and one Vaccine/Virus instead of a Data.

Late game Virus types are nearly always the best attackers, Vaccines are mostly just counters to Virus types or supports, and then Datas are typically set up as supports with a couple being attackers for the Vaccine you every so often have to go up against.

I got two metalgreymons because I was always the type to save Elixirs and realized getting an ultimate "for free" was totally worth blowing a toy plane, and on a different playthrough I accidentally figured out you could get two with two toy planes. Apparetly if you start out as Gold Hawk you can get an infinite amount but then you're gambling with single heart recruitment chances.
Only now do I know they apparently balanced it out by giving him dogshit stats though. I remember finally getting a wargreymon after "sacrificing" my two best digimon and being extremely disappointed he didn't just instantly delete everything. Same goes for Imperialdramon following some guide on gamefaqs 20 years ago.

Level 7s aren't even a new level. Super Ultimates are Ultimates. They're both ultimates. Omegamon can evolve from perfects too and a bunch of weird shit but nothing changes that Ryugumon, Ariemon and Omegamon are ultimates. Ariemon is meant to evolve from MarineBullmon. Consistency also helps people remember things better, and if you had proper consistency in Digivolutions across games it would be easier for people to remember what becomes what and what Digimon do what so they have an "Old Faithful" response to things. That's a pretty narrow look at the series honestly. The evolution lines are consistent both lore wise and in terms of gameplay, for example you can always go from Bird to Holy Digimon. Intertwining the digivolution tree lore into the actual gameplay is part of the reason why Species EXP and Digivolution Plates existed in the first place.

If you've played a few Digimon games you'll naturally be able to make your way towards whatever Digimon you want without ever looking at a list of Digimon in the game, the full digivolution tree or even the blacked out digivolution images. This is because although the exact layout and Digimon available changes somewhat the core idea is consistent.

I don't think you should use the viewpoint of people who have never even tried to understand the franchise as the basis for anything. To them even going from Angewomon to Ophanimon would probably be jarring.

What keeps people from getting into the series at all is the fact that it's all so slapdash and it has been the main criticism from people who do want to get into Digimon but can't because of how slapdash it is. Other monster collectors don't have this issue at all. Even Monster Rancher adheres to an "evolutionary path" that visually makes sense even if it requires reincarnations.
